Blessed Forgetful is a physical, devised theatre piece reimagining Germaine Pichot, remembered largely through the men who loved, desired and painted her, including Picasso and Casagemas. Inspired by Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the piece places a fantastical memory-erasing device in Germaine’s hands and asks could forgetting become an act of care, or does love survive even after memory has been erased? Blending movement-led fragments, shifting images, sound, light and projection, Blessed Forgetful disrupts the stories imposed upon Germaine and imagines a woman stepping beyond the roles of lover, muse and tragedy

CAST & CREATIVES
Peculiar Matter is a London-based international theatre collective creating experimental work across movement, text, and multimedia. Drawing on Vakhtangov’s fantastic realism, the company uses collaborative devising and physical performance to transform personal experiences of memory and otherness into shared theatrical work. Founded by Korean interdisciplinary director Sarah Hyojin Kim, former K-pop performance director and an East 15 graduate, Peculiar Matter emerged from the RE:Visit showcase and a series of after-hours workshops within the East 15 Acting School community. The creative team includes Mila Prusso, an Argentinian actor, movement artist, and East 15 graduate; Kyu Shim, a Korean physical performer trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland; and Stephanie Chu, a National Theatre Young Producers alumna and the company’s Associate Producer. Bringing together different cultural perspectives and performance disciplines, the collective rebuilds fragments from peculiar lives into intimate and visually driven performance.
