The Playground Theatre Presents
WVAC: Jane Corbin: Looking for Trouble
15th March - 4:00pm
Speaker: Jane Corbin

In this talk, Jane Corbin draws on more than three decades as a senior BBC foreign affairs correspondent to examine how today’s conflicts have been shaped by decisions made behind closed doors, failed diplomacy and the spread of extremist violence. From Israel and Gaza to Ukraine, Iran and Afghanistan, she reflects on reporting from the front lines of war, terrorism and political upheaval, offering insight into the realities behind the headlines and the long term consequences of intervention, occupation and unresolved conflict.
Jane connects pivotal moments she witnessed first hand - including the Oslo negotiations, the rise of al-Qaeda, the hunt for Osama bin Laden and the exposure of covert weapons programmes - to the crises now dominating the global agenda. With reference to Gaza, Russia’s war in Ukraine and growing nuclear tensions involving Iran, North Korea and China, the talk explores how the international order has fractured, what has been learned and what risks lie ahead.
