This evening is dedicated to the remarkable legacy of Lynn Seymour, celebrating a career defined by artistry, individuality, and lasting influence. At its centre is a live performance by Ellie Young, who brings renewed vitality to Frederick Ashton’s Five Brahms Waltzes in the Manner of Isadora Duncan. Danced in the free-spirited style inspired by Duncan, the work allows movement and musicality to unfold as a single expressive language, honouring a tradition that Seymour herself embodied with rare intensity.

The programme is enriched by a 1980 documentary that offers an intimate portrait of Seymour beyond the stage. Through candid reflections and personal insights, the film captures her distinctive voice, her uncompromising vision, and the values that shaped her approach to dance. Together, performance and archive create a layered tribute, illuminating Seymour’s enduring impact on generations of dancers and reaffirming her place as one of the most compelling figures in twentieth-century ballet.
