Drama Studio London Presents
Trelawny of the “Wells"
24 - 26 JULY
Written by Arthur Wing Pinero
Adapted & Directed by Michael Fry
Performed by BA & MFA Graduating Students
Trelawny of the “Wells” tells the comic story of a star of the Victorian stage who quits her profession to marry into a well-to-do family. Hating her new upper-class life, she pines to return to the world of the theatre only to find it’s not so easy to step back in time.
Arthur Wing Pinero's vibrant comedy showcases Victorian theatre life with all its glamour and hardships, creating a range of memorable theatrical characters in this celebration of life on the stage.
The National Press has described the play as a Victorian farce which “conceals a lively contemporary comedy under its petticoats.”
This is a newly edited version by playwright and director Michael Fry, whose past professional adaptations include F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby and Jane Austen’s Emma.
