The Rover, or 'The Banish'd Cavaliers' follows a band of exiled Royalist officers and bon viveurs visiting Naples at Carnival Time. They become embroiled in plots and escapades, encountering love, passion, trickery and deception, always with wit and a dashing sense of style.
The play was written by Britain's first professional female playwright, Aphra Behn, and is famous for its early exploration of the themes of gender, power, sexual politics and financial relationships in an era where 'anything goes'...
In this brand-new version created especially for Drama Studio London by Playwright, Meredydd Barker, Aphra Behn makes a celebrity appearance.
